Common Name: Pandanus, Screw Pine

Native to Australia, the Pandanus (or Screw Pine) is an ornamental tree which features buttress style roots that form an A-frame to provide extra support against coastal winds.

Growing naturally by the sea, they are a tough and drought-tolerant plant for tropical and sub-tropical areas, however, good drainage and plenty of sunlight are essential!

The sword shaped, spiny-edged, green leaves are arranged spirally at the end on branches and they produce small white flowers which mature to large fruits up to 30cms in diameter.

Pandanus tectorius is the most popular Screw Pine in Australia and can reach a height of 8m.
