Archontophoenix cunninghamiana
Native to Australia, the Bangalow Palm features a thick crown of feathery fronds atop a slender grey trunk. It is quite cold tolerant.
A self-cleaning palm, the Bangalow will shed it's old leaves by itself, rendering it fairly maintenance free. Keep in mind, however, that it does love water (particularly on those hot summer days) but also requires free draining soil.
It has a shallow root system and can be planted near buildings or services, making it a popular option for poolside tropical planting.
The Bangalow Palm can reach a height of 25m in perfect growing conditions.
