A cold-hardy palm, the Chinese Windmill has a single-trunk and large decorative fan-shaped leaves.
It likes full-sun and well drained soil and can struggle in more tropical climates as it doesn’t suit soggy conditions.
Moderate to fast-growing, the Chinese Windmill can grow up to 30cm per year in cold climates, topping at 10-15 metres.
Once established, it is fairly drought tolerant.
Apply a slow-release organic fertiliser during the growing period.
