Aeonium arboreum var atropupureum ‘Schwarzkopf’ need full sun to light shade with a well drained potting mix. In the greenhouse, we use a soil mix consisting of 2 parts sand to 1 part peat moss to 1 part loam with small gravel added to increase drainage. Plants are allowed to thoroughly dry in-between waterings. We fertilize Aeonium once during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer. During the winter months, the temperature is dropped to 50° F (10°C) and we restrict water to about once a month, or just enough to keep the foliage from shriveling.
